3 very rare 18th century books bound into one binding. 144 pages & 97 pages & 40 pages. .1st. item printed for J. Warcus 1759. 144 pages "The muses choice: or, the merry fellow. Being a collection of wit and humour, diversified with an uncommon variety of merry tales; pointed satires; humourous descriptions, comic characters in high and low life; songs, English Welch, Scott and Irish; rebusses on drinking glasses &c. epigrams, smart and tart; epitaphs, odd and curious, &c. &c. Extracted, partly, from the works of the most celebrated authors", and," partly, from originals, taken from private manuscripts", lacks engraved frontispiece. Third edition ( no second is recorded); first was 1754. . .2nd. item, author is A Lady, printed for R. Snagg & A. Grant, not dated, 18th cent., 97 pages. "Woman's Wit; Or, a New and Elegant Amusement for the Fair Sex; Consisting of an Original and Brilliant Assemblage of Ingenious Witticisms, . a New Edition, Revised and Corrected". . 3rd. item, printed & sold by Willian Forrest, Edinburgh, not dated, 18th cent., 40 pages "The Witty and Entertaining Exploits of George Buchannan , Who Was Commonly Called the King's Fool the Whole in Six Parts Complete". Condition, Full Leather Raised bands, binding fair/good, rubbed edges/spine. Contents fair for age, lacks engraved frontice listed on the net for Muses Choise, some minor dirt marks, folded corner tips, a little minor foxing, the odd nicked edge. At time of listing, only found one copy of Muses choice for sale, But could not find out much about other 2 titles, neither listed for sale on the net.
