1 Punch's Pocket-Book for 1847 ( pages for accounts, every day (diary) & Almanack & lots more).
London Punch Office 1847 First Edition for This Date Leather wrap-round binding Good 9 x 12cm Approx John Leach, 
Black leather wrap-round binding. with a small document pocket at front. Binding complete and in good condition, just minor rubbing etc . Contents good, with some pencil & ink notes in diary, a/c's. Contains Hand-colour 3 page fold-out frontispiece, titled The Matrimonial Tattersall's, (Tattersall's is a horse action (also market) founded in 1766 by Richard Tatterall ) + hand-colour half title page " Punch's pocket book for 1847 + Title page + 192 pages + 6 Full page b/w illustrated pages (also various illustrations within text) . Part 1 contains a good selection of useful information for the year including the government, the Royal family, their household, Almanack, Commerce, Law, Taxes etc + ruled pages for owners cash accounts, diary for every day of the year. Missing diary page 113/114. has various pencil & ink inscriptions, mostly a/cs for 1855 &1856, a couple of recipes, also names of various members of owners family inc. J.F. Wallis, J.E Wallis, J. Wallis, J.B Wallis etc. Part II contains 6 full page illustrations & stories. All full page illustrations by John Leach, ( 1817 - 1864 ) was an artist and cartoonist including for Punch ( the leading political comic weekly of the time). . First Edition for This Date.

2 The Gentleman's Pocket - Book Almanack 1835 ( Almanac, diary)
London Penny & Son 1835 First Edition for This Date Leather wrap-round binding Fair/good 8 x 12cm Approx 
xviii + 197 pages + 7 rear (most pages not numbered). Full-Leather wrap-round binding in fair/ poor condition, rubbed, some staining, minor edge loss. Contents in fair condition, inscribed by original owner to front end page Elizabeth Huck, Ashstead, Surrey, 1835, crossed out, and corner tip loss, next blank page inscribed John Huck, account of business 1883. Most pages good, front & rear end pages poor as staining to spine area. Almanack front & rear is full of contemporary information on subjects as diverse as Acts of Parliament inc. Poor Law, weights and measurements uniformity act, also population, Winchester Cathedral, daily almanack information, astronomical notes, List of the names of the House of Peers & House of Commons (M.P.'s), names of the foreign ambassadors, population of various London areas in 1801 & 1831, information on the Post Office, list places of interest in London, List of the hundreds of Banks in the UK, fares of the watermen on the (river) Thames, Hackney rates (horse/cab/ taxi). & various other information. The remaining centre pages are for the diary and cash accounts, only just a few pages written on. The annotations are on only about 6 pages, they are nothing of historical interest, they are of and looks like a young John Huck (grandson? of original owner) in pencil, some very basic a/c notes and one looks like marks for spelling. So generally in fair/good condition, leather fold-over binding with slip-in strap for holding closed. A scarce almanac. The National Archives, Kew hold the 1851 Will of Elizabeth Huck, a Widow of Ashtead , Surrey.
