6 International Health Exhibition Library (Royal Albert Hall). Catalogue Division I. Health. ..Division II Education ( The International Health Exhibition Library's own special corrected copy )
London William Clowes and Sons & International Health Exhibition London 1884 Unique First Edition Hard Back 14 x 22.cm Approx
6 +153 pages + 1 page ads rear + original Paperback covers + approx 153 pages (see full description). Blue embossed hardback buckram binding good, with "Library Corrected" in ink front + circ lib. Ref. No… ,inside are the original paperback covers in very good condition , Contents very good, clean & tight with some "International Health Exhibition London 1884. Library and Reading Room" rubber stamps etc. including to title page, EXTRA bound between every printed page is a blank page (in some places two), some with extra books + details written in red ink, or books missed when printed i.e. the " library corrected" as written to front of book., also a couple of later Welcom Institute Library rubber stamps within. So a unique 1884 updated copy made especially for the Exhibition Library itself in 1884. From a quick net check No traces of the actual Exhibition have survived on the site. Today the Royal Horticultural Society garden grounds are the Imperial College of Science and Technology est. 1907. As far as I can see The Royal Albert Hall may have just held a massive library of books for delegates to view ( as this just lists Division I. Health. & ..Division II Education ). I am not exactly sure where the thirty-six lectures and fourteen conferences were held. The list of books is interesting as contained specialist books on health published in many countries /languages around the world apart from England/ English.

9 Railway Gazette and Railway News, Special British Railway Centenary Number, La Railway Gazette Numero special , June 22 1925
London Transport (1910) Ltd Railway Gazette 1925 Special Centenary Edition Original Paper Covers Good 23 x 30.5cm.approx
total of 406 pages, i.e. 130 pages (of advertising at front) + 276 pages (128 pages text/ illustrations, followed by pages 129-276 which are 148 pages of adverting rear). So looks like over 1000 illustrations throughout as most pages contain at least one illustration. Binding paperback in good condition, some rubbing/folding. Contents good & clean with some minor folding, mostly the odd corner tip fold. illustrations from photographs (inc. Victorian) & line drawings (inc. plans and diagrams), most on gloss type paper. Not to be compared with normal editions, this is a real minefield of information/illustrations. Text & illustrations with text printed in English & French. ( adverts front/rear in English). This journal seems to be aimed mainly at railway management/directors, including engineering, operational management/directors: The Railway Gazette incorporates many other railway publications inc. the Railway Record, Railway Official Gazette, Railways Illustrated, Herapath's Railway Journal and The Railway Times (Established 1837), etc.. As most bound/yearly volumes do not contain all or any of the 278 pages adverts present in this "special anniversary edition", this is a very rare item.

Page 1 to 64, Fold out map Huntingdonshire complete with tears. Page 1 to 30, Fold out map Norfolk (only top coastal area, lacks rest, about 75% ). Page 1 to 166, page 62 badly torn, lacks pages131-134 Thetford. Lacks map of Suffolk, Page 1 to 102. Then adverts Page 1 to 16 (lacks advert pages 17 to 26) pages 27 to 40, then miss-numbered page 37 (not same as other pages 37-40) to 52. A few ink changes in Norfolk section. Lacks front/rear endpapers. Although not 100% complete is a very rare item, have seen similar ones listed in Institutions on the net, could not find another of any date with the all the same contents/counties. At time of listing could not find any Robson’s Royal Court Guides for sale. If it had the Thetford section in, we would not be selling it. WorldCat only list similar for 1838 & 1842, does not list any for 1839 or any with Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Norfolk & Suffolk. So each year you could purchase the London section and maybe you could purchase any other counties to bound/make your own possibly unique copy.

The remaining centre pages are for the diary and cash accounts, only just a few pages written on. The annotations are on only about 6 pages, they are nothing of historical interest, they are of and looks like a young John Huck (grandson? of original owner) in pencil, some very basic a/c notes and one looks like marks for spelling. So generally in fair/good condition, leather fold-over binding with slip-in strap for holding closed. A scarce almanac. The National Archives, Kew hold the 1851 Will of Elizabeth Huck, a Widow of Ashtead , Surrey.
