Aldersgate Street . London Joseph Masters (for Schools of the Holy Trinity, at Finchley) 1857 Hard Back Good Privately Printed 8.5 x 15cm. Approx 
half title + x + 150 pages + 6 pages publishers list.. Binding embossed in fair condition, some wear, some splitting to front cover, but holding. Contents fair/good, some handling and lacks front end-page. Inside cover is "prunes" written in ink 4 times with some staining. Includes the Management of the Kitchen, Plain Cooking, Breadmaking, Baking, Brewing, Pickling, etc. It was Prepared for the use of the National and Industrial Schools of the Holy Trinity at Finchley. The schools at Finchley, for which this manual was originally prepared, was to educate the children of tradesmen and farmers as well as of poor persons (at this time Finchley was a village some way out of London, now is within London. Eighth Edition.

The 1st 7 ( Seven) Volumes ,14 x 22 cm.approx. each... vol No1 1838 through to vol 7 1842 (7 vols ) all with bookplate/coat of arms of J.M.BRIDGES. 1st. has 387pages, the rest all have 380 pages each. a few pages loose in vols 1&3. bound (orig?) green with gilt lettering to spine. includes many / various subjects inc. camera obscura for photogenic drawing, perfumery, lots on cooking, soap-making, garden tips, the London fog, servants, tobacco, electricity, correspondence, and LOTS,LOTS more. basically in good condition.

First Edition ?. 3 1/4" x 5 "approx. undated poss around 1850 or earlier, last page No. 320 ,Start has various unnumbered pages, 1st. with title only, then full page illustration of a cook in large kitchen with meat/fish/bird on table and various dead animals on the floor and cooking on a large open fireplace., then opposite the full Title page with small engraving of cook infront of another open fire with different pots cooking on open shelves with large cauldren at the top., then Contents pages, 2nd one starts at xii then upto xxv then blank page & then start of book, next page is 28 (so poss no pages missing except blank pages?) nothing obvious missing.+ another 19 illustrations within text. Original embossed buckram binding a bit rubbed, sign's of spine/boards being re-attached/glued Contents:.owners name on 2 of first pages & writing on back blank endpapers. Condition; fair , NO foxing, mostly clear text just a little odd staining and a couple of pages a little loose. getting to be quiet a rare cook book nowadays.
