Undated c1906, 36 pages, Paperback covers fair, some wear, dirt, small hole/tear front. Contents mostly good, the odd tiny edge nick, or minor dirt. Contains 4 different views of H.M.S Montague on the rocks at Lundy, 1st just after she struck the rocks in May 1906 to last one in August when saving her was abandoned & her funnels etc. removed . 2 photographs of the horses/coaches full of people that were made famous from post cards. From a quick net check, I was unable to find another copy listed anywhere. Numerous Photographers used including Phillipse, Blyth & Percival, Murphy, Hipp & Ingram Clark. Etc.

320 pages + 40 pages b/w illustrations (39 from photographs, mostly Palestine, + Rome & Egypt, including some by Frith). Binding Fair, well rubbed edges, Contents very poor with loose pages, some damaged edges, some foxing, a few pages badly re-glued in. All Pages not checked to see if complete, package weight over 2 kilo. So expect large surcharge if outside UK, Due to weight & condition, sent no return only. Can be seen at fairs . London, Long Melford, Norwich, Diss by prior arrangement. From a quick net check, could find only one possible? Copy. Possibly due to the obvious mistake in title referring to His Majesty's, rather than Her Majesty's as it should be in Queen Victoria's 60th Jubilee year in 1897.

22 pages at front + 15 single sided pages each with tiped in genuine photograph of a painting to each page +15 single sided pages each with discription of painting, with introduction by CC Black, 15 genuine 1869 photographs from engraving of best paintings at the time,Original green buckram cover with some edge ware and rubbed front, Contents as it was originally made with gutta percha rubberized glue , so most pages detached ,Title page OK, pre title page torn with old paper repair.,some minor foxing & a few pages with edge damage. Please note not all paintings are still with us, even when published the "St. Peter Martyr by Titian" had just perished, in a fire at the chapel in Italy on 15th August 1867, and is no longer with us. an early book containing genuine photographs

152 pages 73 photographs. Original Quarter leather & grey buckram binding in fair Condition with some wear & fading, readable title to spine. Contents mostly very good, clean & tight. some light foxing to various pages & a couple with dirt , 3 with edge damage, of the oval tipped-in 73 Woodburytype Photographs only Thomas Woolner has damage, others are Very Good, though a few pages with marks to mount, but not on photograph, no inscriptions etc. Series 1 has Photograph of HRH Prince of Wales, Title page, Prefatory Note page, + Preface page, + 2 pages contents 36 + 36 pages ( lacks notes p 10 on Sir Geofrey Wolseley ) .Series 2 has title page ( dated 1877 ), + 2 page list of contents, 36 + 36 pages . Most pages are single sided. inc all tipped-in photographs each on it's own single page (backs blank). All taken from life includes Captain Richard Burton, Lord Lytton, John Everett Millais R.A., Lord George Hamilton M.P., Fredrick Leighton R.A. , Victor Hugo, Marquis of Salisbury, Admiral Sir Richard Collinson, Jules Verne, Bishop of Salisbury, Sir John Gilbert, Gustave Dore .etc. etc. and much better than ordinary photographs as being Woodbury Types are very detailed & clear photographs. With packing, weight over 2 kilo, so not suitable for Canada.

CDV pompei casa con forno e mulini 5049 ( house with oven and mills ) Giacomo Brogi (1822-1881) of Florence was a 19th century Italian photographer and I believe this to have been taken 1879/1880 when he visited Pompei and exhibited & sold them in 1881. size of CDV is approx 10.5 x 16.5cm As can been seen, the image is very good & clear, very minor ageing to edges, as can been seen from scan of rear, Good clear details of his name & addresses, to top is inscribed, possibly by 1st owner is “Corn Mills, Pompei” and to centre a letter “L”

191 + xii pages +a genuine photograph, Original red binding, fair/good just minor edge rubbing..Contents good and tight , "faults" are the ones that add value,. !!! This is a unique copy as on the part about "sleeping sickness" about the deadly Typanosomes carried by the Tsetze fly that killed over 200,000 natives and in 1905 the brave young Officer of the Army Medical Corps Lieut. Tulloch who was working with Prof. Minchin (sic) , caught it at Victoria Nyanza Lake and died while investigating on behalf of the Royal Society of London. There is below this part and written in pencil under various pages a signed/dated statement by ACH Gray., captain RAMC who worked with Tulloch in Uganda, Africa and brought him back to England and stayed with him till he died. and states the correct facts, as the book contained various important mistakes on this matter.. & to the 1st end paper are owners signitures J.D. Gray. July 19. 1909 in ink & see page 147,171 (signed) ACH Gray , in pencil... To next page is the Genuine photograph taken through a microscope singed to rear ( and written on page below the photo) " T. Grayii from GI palpalis Uganda. 1906 (signed) ACH Gray " this genuine photograph is 10 x 13cm with 1cm tear nowhere near the circular immage of what i beleive to be the the Trypanosomes bug ( poss from Tulloch ) the photograph is good and clear and vey rare if not unique.

Original photograph of Nancy Witcher Astor (née Langhorne), Viscountess Astor 1920 (1879-1964), Born in America, Politician and wife of Waldorf Astor 2nd Viscount Astor; previous wife of R.G. Shaw; daughter of Chiswell Dabney Langhorne. the first woman to sit as a Member of Parliament in the British House of Commons in 1919. A champion of women's rights, the 1930s the Astors' house, Cliveden, became the focus of many high-powered political meetings. Actual size of photograph 16 x 21.5 cm. Condition good, some dirt to surface & some touching up bottom right. No details at all to photograph . National Portrait Gallery has similar (same, but cut down & smaller) image by Edis of Nancy Astor Ref; NPG x339 Olive Edis, (Mary Olive Edis, later Edis-Galsworthy ) 1876 - 1955 is one of Englands most important pioneer female photographers. Olive preferred to use natural light for her photographs, which make her portraits so natural and so well loved. . She was a British photographer famous for portrait photography. With an amazing circle of Edwardian Society sitters, including aristocratic & Royalty (many Royal photographs are so natural, not the usual "stiff" portraits by most photographers). She was also the only woman photographer who served as a war artist in World War I. Also commissioned to record the work of the Women's Services at the end of the First World War. The National Portrait Gallery (NPG) holds 418 of her photographs/portraits. This is one of number of Olive's photographs I have on & will put on. They are all from Edis's studio and house in Sheringham, in Norfolk. Since her death were under the ownership of Cyril Nunn who died in 2008.and have been sold at a few auctions since. By prior arrangement I may be able show you the photograph at fairs I do in Norfolk, Long Melford & London inc. the London Photograph fairs.

92 +vii+ 7pages tipped in Photoraphs+ 7 blank pages to protect photographs... Original embossed green & gilt binding of cotton over wood. Fair with some rubbing / loss... Contents Fair/good for this type of book. tight, gilt edges, with some loose pages & some foxing due to the paper & glue used to attach photographs. no foxing on actual photographs but on page around photo & rear of page. a couple of folded corners, inscibed to front , one 1921 & the original one dated Christmas 1860 to George H. Gibb ( the Postmaster of Dundee, an important possition at the time).

Chicargo The Werner Company 1893 First Edition in Weekly Parts. 28.5 x 35cm.approx Photographotographs 
Rare Binder & full 16 weekly parts (with 16 photographs in each part, except 1st part that also has one of Stoddard), all parts copyright dated 1893, all in original reddish covers and with it's Original embossed binder. The embossed binder is brown with black, Blue & gilt cover is fair/good some edge rubbing ,staining to base, minor splitting to top/base spine, with all the 3 flaps in fair condition, minor staining, with 5 of the 6 ties intact with some wear. Inside The 16 loose weekly parts all have their reddish paper covers, covers mostly good ,hinges with rust (easy to replace), minor edge damage to a few. Contents mostly good & tight top/1st part only loose with some edge folding. This is called the Household educational series and published in Chicargo weekly for the English market as rear of all except last mention the "next part costs not less than 6s (6 shillings) each , & thus .making the whole series not less than £5". So looks like the very rare 1st edition with original weekly covers & these for the UK market. Pages are not numbered. Original wrap round hard back covers, 16 Original red weekly paper covers with contents 256 pages of photos, 1st part also has a title page, page with photo of Author & 2 page introduction. It was published in this form before being published in Book form & heavier at 2.6 kilo (over 6lbs) without packing. Can be seen at London Photograph fairs, but email me 1st.

Blue leather binding, ornate spine with 5 raised bands some rubbing, boards with decorative gilt edges, some rubbing, gilt to edges of pages, contents mostly very good & tight, with only very odd minor staining & usual printed & hand written ETON College prize dedication. to Alexander Busby MDCCCLXXIII ...WEIGHT 5 lbs/ 2.2 kilo so postage surcharge.. Can be collected at London Photograph Fair's if ordered 48 hrs before inform me 1st.

25 pages, ALL pages with tipped-on photographs with title in base of photographs, no text on the pages, just printed inside front cover are the publishing details. Condition Original decorative paperback binding Fair, edges poor with some edgr loss, original cord holding contents, strong with fadeing of colour, small tear rear cover. Contents are Very good, clean & tight, no inscriptions etc. Only a couple of folded corner tips front. All printed tipped-on photographs in excelent condition. In all 31 photographs, 2 on front cover + 29 within, 25 pages, ALL pages with tipped-on photographs ( 4 pages with 2 photos to each, also one page is a foldout page with panoramic view of Winnipeg's Main Street & Portage Ave with horse/carts, early motor cars & electric trams), on the cattle ranges, Alberta, wild horses by Big Bow river, farming, City Hall Square in Winnipeg, view of Calgary from a nearby hill, Edmonton on Gala day, various of around the Rockies inc. Lake Louise & snow covered Rockies, and Glacier House and the great glacier, felling a big tree, an S. White coach & horses full of people at StanlyPark Drive Vancouver, S.S. "Princess Victoria" on a lake or wide river, also an interesting one of a large group discribed as " Types of a fast disappearing Race", (This is a large group of Red Indians), & more. Unusally the 2 photographs on the front cover are NOT duplicated inside the book ( so it's nice to see they too are in good condition, just a tiny edge tear to lower image). From a quick net check, could not find another for sale. Only 1 or 2 in institutions, But neither exactly the same as mine, seems a smaller 12x15cm book with only 16 pages was published in 1904 & a 24 page edition was published later in 1908. This edition may be the 1908 edition with an extra page, But the date inside the cover, though in small text, through an eye glass, looks much more like 1906.
