London printed for the proprietors, and sold by J. Wheble, 1794 1st Edition in This Form Hard Back Fair 13.5 x 22cm Approx

Condition; Binding original hardback of leather spine & papered boards in very well rubbed condition, Contents Fair, many pages good, some with pencil scribbling (mostly rear of illustrations), some folded corner tips, the odd, minor tear or edge staining. No actual book title page, lacks 4 illustrations and pages151-154 (play and luck). Page numbers are a bit odd, but not unique for pre 1800, at page 322 it then jumps to page 333 with no loss of text (even index has page 322 then nothing to page 333) at rear Racing calendar is a page number 1 to 60 then loss of a page or more? As stated no book title, but each month has title page & content pages. This copy contains many historic items mentioned on the net from opening illustration of the “meeting of the Royal Surrey Bowmen on Epsom Downs. Also includes Horse Racing Calender rear inc. winners from past races, including Newmarket. The Easter Hunt in Epping Forest, hunting, foxes, antelope, whale, bullock etc, pheasant hawking, swimming, cocking, boxing, The origin of chess (very detailed), Monthly reports on cricket matches including an England team ( The Earl of Winchester and 11 England against a team 22 of Middlesex ) played at Lord’s Ground with score of each player etc. (easy win for England). And so much more. Looks like this title 1st appeared in 1792, so 1794 is very early, and earliest run for sale on net at time of listing. Also this book is for 6 months, (others are sometimes only 2 or 4 months). Has much too much in to even mention a fraction of contents. This was a monthly magazine, This book is for 6 monthly editions and more at rear, includes April 1794, May, June, July, August & September 1794.
