Ref. No… ,inside are the original paperback covers in very good condition , Contents very good, clean & tight with some "International Health Exhibition London 1884. So a unique 1884 updated copy made especially for the Exhibition Library itself in 1884. From a quick net check No traces of the actual Exhibition have survived on the site. Today the Royal Horticultural Society garden grounds are the Imperial College of Science and Technology est. 1907. As far as I can see The Royal Albert Hall may have just held a massive library of books for delegates to view ( as this just lists Division I. Health. & ..Division II Education ). I am not exactly sure where the thirty-six lectures and fourteen conferences were held. The list of books is interesting as contained specialist books on health published in many countries /languages around the world apart from England/ English.

John Robert Augustus Oetzmann, Messrs Oetzmann & Co manuscript Valuation & Map Hampstead Road
16 John Robert Augustus Oetzmann, Messrs Oetzmann & Co manuscript Valuation & Map Hampstead Road
London unpublished 1893 Unique Unpublished Original Paperback Very Good 20.5 x 30.5cm Approx
4 single sided pages + coloured map. Paperback binding, good condition, some ageing. Contents very good, clean and tight minor folding to fold out map. All is hand written with hand made map, there is no printing at all. No inscriptions. This is an original (possibly only) 1893 hand written valuation of the “freehold and leasehold properties, also the fixtures and fittings, trade utensils” etc., etc. “belonging to the trusties of the late John Robert Augustus Oetzmann, trading as Messrs Oetzmann & Co.,” dated “September 1893” ( he died in 1886). Inside at the front is the fold-out map on tracing paper showing all the buildings & yards etc. within 67 – 79 Hampstead Road & 146-152 Drummond Street & 15 William Street. Seems to have been made for the sale of firm. The report mentions the brown is the leasehold, but over time all looks red, but from rear can see what is/was brown. Though it goes into detail about all the buildings etc. mentions cellars, basements, what used for etc.. It values of all the freehold premises as one amount and all leasehold as one, + a total rental value as another amount. The stock in trade, fittings, horses etc. as another amount. And signed by the surveyors/valuers below the total value, some pages of the handmade paper is watermarked “Whatman 1893”, it does not mention who the buyers were, but assume it was some or all of his sons, or the sale did not go through, as from a quick net check could not find any info of being taken over. From the net; John Robert Augustus Oetzmann born 1825 in Ipswich, opened the furniture shop in 1848 at 67 Hampstead Road, London, and grew & grew and was carried on by his sons after his death in 1886, and was one of the largest furniture/household shops in London, it seems to have closed just after WWII. So a unique manuscript item relating to history of the John Oetzmann / Messrs Oetzmann & Co.
