1 The Ladies Cabinet 1847 of Fashion Music and Romance. Vol. 8
London E Henderson 1847 1st Edition in This Form Hard Back a/f Good 14 x 20cm Approx
Decorative Title page + 414 pages + 2 rear + 32 illustrated pages, July to December, 1847. Vol. 8. 6 b/w illustrations + 92 fashion plates on 26 pages (as called for). All fashion plates of ladies/children have some hand colouring, but not all other fashion plates have hand colouring ( not sure if correct or if some hand colouring has not been completed), also not all plates listed have been bound in exactly the correct place. Condition; Binding has original mottled/quartered leather boards in fair condition with some rubbing, lacks spine. Contents Good tight copy, saw no inscriptions ( and still has both blank end page to front & rear), a very few corner/edge folds, minimal foxing and still retains all tissue between illustrated pages ( noticed one with finger loss to edge), except illustrated title page, possibly did not have one as page is opposite the blank end page. The Ladies Cabinet of Fashion, Music, and Romance is typical of the period, includes prose ,verse, stories in monthly parts (fact & fiction) includung The confessions of a felon, Napoleon's return from Elba, A ride in an Omnibus, Advertising for a wife, etc., etc. . Most notable for the hand-coloured illustrations of both London & Paris each month with descriptions of all 92 items. So overall seems to be a good copy, lacking spine to binding.
