347pages., contains an original CDV photograph portrait of author's travelling companions tipped-in on frontice page, + 16 woodcuts in the text. Condition, Binding Fair with edge rubbing, minor loss top/base of spine, stain rear top corner. Contents good, tight, folded corner to title page, inside near front is inscribed "presented to ? ? Gyle (by) A. P. Dutcher" hard to read as in a very shaky hand. Book is about two summer trips to Europe 1881 & 1883, are described,some in great detail by Dutton an American physician from Cleveland, including the social habits of Londoners, the cemeteries of Paris, The tobacco shops of Paris, a visit to 3 principal cities of Ireland, also includes his boat trips from America, Great Britain ( mostly London & Ireland), France, Germany and small bit about Basel Switzerland.
