3 Anon The Mysteries of London [A novel] Translated from the French
London J. S. Pratt 1849 First Edition Unbound Very Good 8 x 12.5cm Approx
512 pages, Lacks binding. Contains end-pages front & rear. Contents very good and clean copy, just a few folded pages/corner tips. Unable to find out any information about this book. Only copy I found is in the British Library, but does give any other details. Although George Reynolds (1814 - 1879) published his series & book of the same title, around the same time. It is not the same as in this book, chapter one starts with "On a Sunday evening in the month of November, the brave Captain Paddy O'Chrane was seated in the parlour of the "Crown Arms". Unlike Reynolds book. But possibly also based on a French book. a quick look, it is mostly on the upper classes including The Right. Hon. Brian de Lancaster, Lord James Trevor, Lady B, The Countess of Derby, possibly mostly about Rio Santo and Lady Campbell.
